Riverina Rugby Roundup 2026
The Riverina Rugby Roundup is set to deliver three huge days of Rugby Union action across Albury Wodonga, bringing together senior and junior clubs from across the Riverina region for one unforgettable weekend of sport, community and entertainment.
Running from Friday May 15 through to Sunday May 17, the event will feature senior clashes under lights, full Saturday grade competitions, and a massive Junior Gala Day to finish the weekend.
Hosted by us, the Albury Wodonga Rugby Union Football Club, the Riverina Rugby Roundup is shaping up to become one of the biggest annual Rugby Union events on the regional sporting calendar.
With clubs, volunteers, local businesses and supporters all coming together, the Riverina Rugby Roundup is more than just a sporting event — it’s a celebration of regional rugby culture and community connection in Albury Wodonga.
Friday Night Rugby — May 15
The weekend kicks off Friday evening at the Lavington Sports Club Ovals with three exciting senior fixtures under lights. Action begins from 6:00pm, featuring 2nd Grade, Women’s and 1st Grade matches between WAC and Albury Wodonga Rugby clubs.
Friday Night Fixtures:
- 6:00pm — WAC 2nd XV vs Albury Wodonga 2nd XV
- 6:15pm — WAC Women’s vs Albury Wodonga Women’s
- 7:30pm — WAC 1st XV vs Albury Wodonga 1st XV
The Friday night atmosphere promises a great way to launch the Roundup weekend with competitive local rivalries, crowd energy and Rugby Union under lights.
Saturday Senior Rugby — May 16
Saturday delivers a full day of senior Rugby Union action at the Lavington Sports Club Ovals, beginning from 11:20am and running through until the evening.
Clubs from across the Riverina will compete across 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade, Women’s and 1st Grade matches, with teams including Wagga City, Griffith, Tumut, Hay, Reddies, Waratahs, Leeton and more taking the field throughout the day.
Saturday also brings a strong community and cultural atmosphere to the event, with traditional Pacifica-inspired food available throughout the day, including:
- Traditional Fijian spit roasts
- Traditional Māori Hangi ready from 1pm
Combined with wall-to-wall rugby action, Saturday is set to become a major highlight of the Riverina sporting calendar.
Sunday Junior Gala Day — May 17
Sunday shifts the focus to the future of Rugby Union with the Junior Gala Day taking over Murrayfield, Alexandra Park and Ian Barker Fields in Albury.
Starting from 9:00am, the day will feature junior matches across multiple age groups.
Junior clubs from across the region including Albury/Tumut, Wagga Wagga, Temora, Harden, Young, Griffith, Leeton, West Wyalong and Cootamundra will compete throughout the day, creating an exciting festival atmosphere for players, families and supporters alike.
Sunday will also include SIRU Representative Training sessions during the afternoon, adding another exciting element to the Junior Gala Day program.
